Biography

I obtained my BSc in Biology from the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain. After finishing my undergraduate in 2012, I continued my specialization with a MSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at the University Complutense of Madrid in 2013. During this time, I developed a project on autophagy in Dr. Patricia Boya’s laboratory at the Center for Biological Research (CIB), also in Madrid. Then, I started my PhD in Dr. Abelardo Lopez-Rivas’s laboratory at the Andalusian Center for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CABIMER), Seville. The focus of my dissertation project was to study
the role of glutamine metabolism in TRAIL sensitivity of breast tumour cells. During my PhD program, I was a visiting graduate student in Prof. Michael Lisanti’s and Prof. Federica Sotgia’s laboratory at the University of Salford, Manchester (UK), to
study the role of glutamine metabolism in breast cancer stem cells. In 2019, I joined Prof. Michael Lisanti’s and Prof. Federica Sotgia’s research group as a Post Doc Research Associate at the same institution where I am currently working. My work now is focused on the metabolism of cancer stem cells.
