Salford Professor appointed President of the Institute of Acoustics

Professor Waddington, Director of the Acoustics Research Centre at Salford, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this prestigious role. His appointment marks a significant milestone in his career and reflects the University’s continued leadership in the field of acoustics.

In his new role, Professor Waddington aims to strengthen the connection between academic research and industry practice, with a particular focus on sustainability in acoustics. He also plans to oversee the integration of the EPSRC-funded UK Acoustics Network (UKAN+) into the IOA structure, enhancing research coordination and support within the acoustics community.

Professor Waddington said: “I am honoured to take on this role and look forward to working with colleagues across the industry and in government to advance the field of acoustics.

"Our goal is to ensure that the IOA continues to be at the forefront of acoustic innovation, education, and professional development.”

The outgoing President, Alistair Somerville, expressed his gratitude to Professor Waddington.
