Dr Jane McAdam elected as the next Chair of the Royal College of Podiatry
Dr Jane McAdam, Associate Dean Enterprise and Engagement at the University of Salford, has been elected as the next Chair of the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) following a meeting of the RCPod Council on 6 July.
Jane will officially start her two-year term after the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) in July 2024. She will succeed the current Chair, Michelle Scott when she concludes her term and demits office at the same AGM.
Under the RCPod’s Articles, the member-elected Council votes to decide its next Chair, with any member of the Council eligible to stand for the role. Council members cast their votes on behalf of the membership that elected them to their positions. This provides the Chair of Council with a mandate from the membership to lead the RCPod Council for two years and to set its strategic direction.
The Chair Elect will now shadow the current Chair over the next year, before taking over the position.
Jane said: “It is a huge privilege to be elected as the next Chair of the RCPod’s Council. My focus will be to ensure that we represent the views of all podiatrists around the Council table.
“This is a critical time for podiatrists, podiatry and the RCPod. We will work to provide the support our members want and deserve so that they can deliver the best podiatric care possible for patients. I want all members to feel a sense of belonging to the profession and within the College, and that both are well-positioned to help them to achieve fulfilling careers.
“I thank my fellow nominees that put themselves forward for the position of Chair Elect and to my colleagues on Council who have entrusted me to this position.”
Michelle Scott, current Chair of the RCPod Council, said: “I should like to congratulate Jane on her election as the next Chair of the Royal College of Podiatry. She will be an asset to the College and the profession in her new role. I look forward to working with her in the coming year to ensure a seamless transition.”
