Salford academic receives commendation for outstanding work

Categories: School of Health and Society

Physiotherapy lecturer Tim Pigott has received a special commendation for his work producing evidence-based content for physiotherapists in the world of ultra running and cycling.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), the professional, educational and trade union body of UK physiotherapists, launched its commendation scheme to recognise and celebrate members who have made exceptional contributions to the profession and their communities.

Tim was nominated for the free educational content he has produced for the physiotherapy community. Sharing his insights online, Tim has been educating physios on cycling and bike fit via his platform ’The Cycling Physios’ as well as through podcasts and his own social media accounts.

On his commendation, Tim said: “I’m in a fortunate position to be able to share my knowledge and having been on the receiving end of some amazingly generous colleagues in my early career, I want to pay that forward.

“A quote which always stands out to me is this: ‘Because we are mortal, every talent, skill, ability we possess, every thought and feeling we ever have, every beautiful sight we ever see, every material possession we own, will ultimately be lost. Unless we share it. Unless we give what we have to others - to our spouse, to our child, to our friends and neighbours, to the strangers we encounter on our path - what we know and value will be irrevocably and utterly, gone.’

“That should underpin our motivations as teachers, to pass on the knowledge we have collated. It is nice that the CSP have recognised the value and quality of what I share.”
