More sustainability initiatives coming to our campus
At the university, we recognise the climate and biological crises and that climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our society across the globe.
As a higher education provider we have a major role to play in enabling our students and staff to respond positively to global challenges through their study, work and life. Our vision is that by embedding sustainability in all aspects of university life, we will enable our university community to create impactful positive change for society and environment.
In a recent survey, our students told us that they feel proud of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact (80%) and 86% agree that sustainability skills and knowledge are important to gain through their studies.
Our Sustainability Team leads the development and implementation of the University Sustainability Strategy. In June 2024 the Sustainability Team supported a series of student voice workshops to further understand and explore how we can meet student expectations in sustainability. Our students told us how we need to make sustainability action more visible to students and provide more, diverse opportunities for active involvement.
The Sustainability Team have been working with Salford SU to enable many opportunities to get involved with sustainability including volunteering, joining a society, attending events or supporting campaigns.
