Improving Your Welcome experience
Welcome Week is an exciting time for both new and returning students. Your Welcome Team has already made some changes based on your feedback and is actively working on more updates to make the experience even better for you and your peers.
Easier Navigation
- Increased availability of campus maps across the university during Welcome Week.
- Starting in 2024, Student Ambassadors stationed inside key buildings to help with wayfinding.
Better access to events
- Printed Welcome Week event booklets introduced, with more available in September 2025.
- Redesigned Welcome Events page for easier navigation.
- Increased on-campus communications to promote events.
Sustainable Welcome
- Partnership with the Sustainability Team to promote eco-friendly initiatives and sustainable transport options through Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and CyclingUK.
- Introducing New ‘Freebies Register’ to minimize waste from duplicate giveaways.
- Distribution of eco-friendly items, including coffee cups, recycled lunch boxes, and drinks bottles with the help of Sustainability Team and Eat and Drink.
Clearer event information
- Event listings enhanced based on student feedback.
- Introducing symbols in September 2025 to improve clarity and accessibility on the events page.
These improvements have been made in direct response to your feedback, ensuring more sustainable, and more engaging Welcome experience for all new and returning students.
