Outstanding Young Journalist

The University of Salford’s Outstanding Young Journalist category was introduced for the awards in 2014 and has since gone on to showcase the work of some of the country’s most exciting young journalists across the industry.

Some of the most notable winners include ITV News’ political reporter Shehab Khan who was previously hired as the youngest staff reporter at The Independent.

Inzaman Rashid, Sky News’ North of England news correspondent took the mantle in 2020 after his reporting during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Daily Mail’s sports reporter Issan Khan won the award last year after his agenda-setting exclusives at the paper during 2022, including the racism scandal at Yorkshire Cricket Club.
