Work placements and internships
At Salford Business School, we are proud of our close links with business. We have a long history of engaging with companies to provide work placements, internships, live briefs and team projects for our students.
Who we work with
The opportunities we provide span across our entire range of courses and form part of all our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
We work with companies of all sizes, from large multinationals to micro-organisations, finding real projects and positions so that you can make a difference to companies while enhancing your employability at the same time.
Placements are an important opportunity for all students. They help you to apply the knowledge you have gained in the classroom, allow you to build your network, and introduce you to the realities of work.
Most of our students who undertake a placement see quantifiable improvements in their academic results, and we encourage students to continue their association with the organisation they did their work placement with.
Some organisations where students go on placement include:
- Ernst and Young (EY)
- Booth Ainsworth
- IBM
- Salford City Council
- NHS
- Enterprise Rent A Car
Our employability team
Our employability team, based in the student hub, manages the process of bringing together students who are looking for a placement with employers who want students to work on a specific project. Although you are responsible for finding your placement or internship, the team will help you to build your job-hunting skills and support you in developing connections with potential employers.
Why our students love work placements
“My placement has opened doors for me and helped me to network.” Idnan Ahmed, LLB Law with Professional Placement.
“I’ve developed my competencies in management, communication and project management. The experience I’ve gained will be useful at interviews and when applying for grad schemes.” Jennifer Malpass, BSc Business and Management.
“I came to Hopewiser to implement a business-to-business marketing campaign. Within the first six weeks, my placement turned into a job offer. Everyone was so welcoming, it’s been fantastic to join this company.” Ryan Gerrard, MSc Digital Business.
