As part of our ongoing support for our students and colleagues, the University of Salford is introducing the use of a new safety app called SafeZone, that you can download to provide you with access to emergency or urgent assistance should you need it, first aid and the ability to report emergency incidents and concerns.

All students and colleagues are encouraged to download and familiarise themselves with the SafeZone app. Download the SafeZone app today!

You can find out more information on the SafeZone app or check out the handy FAQs.

You can use the SafeZone app to:

Raise an Emergency alert

  • If you, or another person nearby, are in a situation where personal safety is threatened or are hurt or injured.

    Examples include:
    • If you feel threatened, or if someone has threatened you.
    • If you have been the victim of crime.
    • If you are hurt or injured (use First Aid if minor)
    • If you see somebody else being threatened, assaulted or robbed.
  • Responders will then try to contact you by phone or through in-app messaging. You can respond to a message by pressing 'Open Chat'.
  • If your location settings in the App are on, campus security colleagues may be able to locate and reach you.

Request First Aid

  • If you or another person nearby needs medical assistance, you can use the App so that qualified first-aider campus security colleagues may be able to locate and reach you.

    Examples include:
    • If you or someone near you is hurt or injured.
    • If you are not sure whether you need an ambulance, raise the First Aid alert and ask the responder, who can call for an ambulance as appropriate.
  • Responders will then try to contact you by phone or through in-app messaging. You can respond to a message by pressing 'Open Chat'.
  • If your location settings in the App are on, campus security colleagues may be able to locate and reach you.

Ask for Help

  • If you want to alert campus colleagues to your needs or the needs of other people.

    Examples include:
    • Reporting suspicious activity.
    • Someone behaving in a way that makes you think that they may need help or potentially be at risk of harm to themselves or other people.
