Biography

Zeeshan is a Professor in Construction Management and a distinguished academic, with a multifaceted portfolio encompassing cutting-edge research, impactful international research collaborations, and a passionate commitment to research-led teaching and learning. With a focus on Intelligent Construction Collaboration, Building Information Modelling, Construction Robotics and Artificial Intelligence deployment, Smart City Innovations, and Life Cycle Assessment, Zeeshan has contributed in the realm of digital built environments and sustainable construction practices over past two decades having supervised/co-supervised 50+ PhDs and 100+ Master’s thesis.

Zeeshan’s research projects have been recognised and supported by a diverse array of prestigious funding bodies, including the Royal Academy of Engineering, HEFCE, Highways England, the British Council, the Higher Education Authority and the Qatar National Research Fund. Moreover, Zeeshan has successfully led numerous commercial enterprise-funded projects in collaboration with industry partners such as WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, Jacobs, Costain, and Highways England, underscoring his ability to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Zeeshan's global impact extends beyond his research pursuits, as he has cultivated international research linkages with institutions in Vietnam, Malaysia, China, the Philippines, Jordan, Turkey, and Pakistan sponsored by varied research sponsors. This expansive network of collaborations has facilitated knowledge exchange and capacity building on a global scale, furthering the advancement of sustainable construction practices worldwide.

As a passionate advocate for research-led teaching and learning, Zeeshan has been instrumental in introducing new modules within the digital built environment theme, thereby equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry landscape. His role as a program leader for the Construction Management program has been marked by a relentless pursuit of curriculum enhancement, particularly in fostering digital fluency among graduates. Through the promotion of industry-grade software tools and immersive learning experiences, he has empowered students to harness the transformative potential of digital innovations, thereby enhancing their employability prospects and enriching their educational journey.

Teaching

Zeeshan currently teaches in MSc Construction Management and MSc BIM and Digital Built Environments programme and is an external examiner at University of Brighton and Coventry University. His, over a decade, teaching profile exemplifies a dedication to academic excellence and a commitment to staying at the forefront of industry trends. With a proven track record of leadership and innovation, Zeeshan has played a pivotal role in shaping MSc Construction Management programme, ensuring its alignment with professional accreditations and industry standards, leading through various accreditation cycles with respected bodies such as the Association for Project Management (APM), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Dr. Zeeshan has demonstrated a keen understanding of the evolving landscape of construction management education globally, having contributed towards various curriculum review initiatives with partners in Vietnam and Malaysia.

Zeeshan has also collaborated with industry partners such as Balfour Beatty and Atkins and various city councils to develop bespoke training tailored to meet the needs of their staff. Additionally, Zeeshan has facilitated the delivery of RICS BIM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses. His teaching profile reflects a holistic approach to construction management education, characterized by innovation, industry relevance, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
