Biography

Tom Laws has a PhD in Community Medicine and a degree in Economics, these equip him to perform evaluations of projects that seek to promote health and well-being .

An evaluation of a social enterprise training programme for vulnerable young adults (scoping phase) was undertaken (2021-2022). An extension of funding by the Health Foundation has meant a further evaluation is underway (2022-2024).

There have been three men's health book published covering narrative accounts of health recovery, clinical guidelines for common male conditions for clinicians and explorations of sensitive issues held by men.

Numerous publications seek to evaluate men and father's role in promoting health within the family. Evaluating father's coping with Intimate partner violence in pregnancy is an ongoing area of investigation.

Tom's focus on PhD by publications has resulted in 15 peer review outputs for students; with topics focused on family support for children with Rare genetic disorders, supportive care for prostate cancer treatments, screening for oesophageal cancer, Antenatal care in Kenya.
