Biography
Palaiahnakote Shivakumara is a lecturer in computer science at the University of Salford, UK. Previously, he worked as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 2013-2023. He was with the Department of Computer Science, School of Computing, National University of Singapore from 2008-2013 as a Research Fellow on Video text extraction and recognition projects.
He received B.Sc., M.Sc Technology by research and Ph.D degrees in computer science respectively in 1995, 2001 and 2005 from University of Mysore, Mysore, Karnataka, India. He has published more than 300 research papers in national, international conferences and journals. He has been serving as an Editor-in-Chief for Artificial Intelligence and Applications (AIA).
He has been serving as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM), Pattern Recognition (PR), International Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition (IJDAR), Springer Nature of Computer Science (SNCS), ACM Transactions Asian and Low Resource Language Information Processing (TALLIP), Malaysian Journal of Computer Science (MJCS) and CAAI-Transactions on Intelligence in Technology. He received a Top Reviewer award from IEEE Transaction on Multimedia (TMM), Pattern Recognition Letters (PRL). He has been reviewer for several IEEE Transactions, Elsevier journals, CVPR, ICCV, ACMMM, ECCV, ACCV, ICDAR, DAS, ICFHR, ICPR conferences etc.
He received the prestigious award “Dynamic Indian of the Millennium” by KG Foundation, Coimbatore, India. His research interests include image processing, pattern recognition, fraud document analysis and video text analysis. He is Senior Member of IEEE and IUPRAI.

Image Processing, Document Image Processing, Handwritten Text Analysis, Person Behavior Identification and Artificial Intelligence.
