Mrs Lyndsey Rosson
School of Health & Society
Current positions
Lecturer in Mental Health
Biography
Lyndsey qualified as a registered mental health nurse in 2008 and started working as a staff nurse and, later, ward sister on the acute wards and PICU for Greater Manchester West Mental health NHS trust. During this time Lyndsey developed her interest in student learning and education and set up a student learning forum as a project that formed part of her therapeutic intervention’s degree. Given its success, this enticed her to pursue a career in academia. Whilst still working clinically, Lyndsey joined the University of Chester as a senior lecturer practitioner, where she stayed part-time until joining Salford University in September 2020. During her time at Chester, Lyndsey was a senior lecturer and program lead and successfully completed her PGCert, becoming a registered NMC teacher and a fellow of the HEA. Throughout her time as a lecturer practitioner and completing her Master’s degree Lyndsey worked as a CBT therapist in a category B prison, as a mental health advisor / CBT therapist at UCLan and as a senior nurse practitioner for North West Boroughs NHS foundation trust. Lyndsey remains in clinical practice with North West Ambulance Service, where she works as an urgent care practitioner in the clinical hub, conducting mental health telephone triage on a bank basis. Lyndsey is currently studying part-time for a PhD in student mental health due to her desire to combine both interests of mental health and student experience. Lyndsey is a peer reviewer for Mental health practice, an expert member for the NHS research ethics committee and co-chair of the University's school of health and society ECR group.
