Biography
I am a registered Children's nurse with over 15 years clinical experience in Neonatal Intensive Care in a variety of roles; including Family Care Lead, Discharge Coordinator, Shift Coordinator and Bereavement Lead Nurse.
As a key member of the Neonatal Family Care Team, I took a leading role in developing an audit tool and a customised teaching programme to enhance the delivery of Family-Centred Developmental Care within the Neonatal Unit. Our team's research and experiences were documented and published in the 'Infant' journal. This change management project utilised different strategies to effectively teach and educate nursing and medical staff, parents/families and other members of the Multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
I am passionate about staff and student wellbeing and support and work hard to ensure that everyone feels valued, has a voice and feels safe and supported. In clinical practice, I regularly organised and facilitated 'Schwartz Rounds' which added immense value to the team and consistently received positive feedback. I was also nominated for a national award in 2023 for my contribution to the Neonatal unit and in particular, to bereavement services and staff support.
Throughout my career, I have shown commitment to the education and training of both pre and post-registration nursing colleagues. I was able to expand this commitment to include medical and support staff, providing them with Human Factors training - which is another passion of mine!
I joined the University of Salford in February 2024 when I was successful in securing a Clinical Educator role on the Trainee Nurse Associate (TNA) programme. Here, I work with an incredible team, teaching across the programme but primarily in year 1.
