Dr Leah Greene
School of Health & Society
Current positions
Head of Simulation and Skills
Biography
I am the Head of Simulation/Senior Lecturer in the School of Health & Society. I started in this role in March 2023. I work with colleagues across the School to embed and enhance simulation-based education and innovative techniques for teaching and learning in the four Directorates (Allied & Public Health, Nursing & Midwifery, Social Sciences and Psychology & Sport) . Prior to this I worked at Manchester Metropolitan University as a Senior Lecturer in Simulation-Based Education.
Areas of Research
Research interests include investigating student learner's engagement and emotional response to realism during simulation-based education.
I was part of an International team involved in research into Simulated Patients (SPs). I currently lead the SP Programme in the Northwest on behalf of NHS England, training both SPs and SP Trainers. I recently completed the funded M-Care (Mixed Realities for Health and Social Care Education) project. M-Care comprises mixed reality resources (2D games, augmented reality (AR) models, body-system fly-throughs, and virtual reality (VR) work experiences) for health and social careers education. The resources are designed to inspire young people to discover more about the human body and consider future careers in the health and social care sector and were launched in November 2021.
Areas of Supervision
Simulation-based education
I am particularly interested in integrating simulation and emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning. I have developed innovative simulation resources for teaching and learning and virtual/simulation-based placements. I have expertise in curriculum innovation and scenario design and strive to provide accessible, supportive simulation experiences for all learners.
