Anmin is a member of academic research staff in biomechanical engineering since he joined the University of Salford in 2003. Anmin was a mechanical engineer before his PhD research on walking mechanics of human and legged robots at Salford. Since 2003 Anmin’s research have mainly focused on human biomechanics and the application of motion analysis in clinical research and practice. Anmin has been one of the main human biomechanics researchers in the clinical gait analysis service at the University of Salford, where pathological gait test and analysis have been performed to individuals with lower limb deformity and walking problems. Foot and ankle are the most critical part of a human body, foot and ankle biomechanics have been Anmin’s focus since his research started at the centre. To get a thorough and comprehensive understanding to the foot bone movement during walking stance, different multi-segment foot and ankle models based on data harvested from in Vitro specimen simulation test, in vivo test with skin anatomical marker and bone pin marker have been developed and analytical methods and results have been successfully published. Anmin's research also focused on the quantified assessment of biomechanical effect of the orthotic and prosthetic devices in the management in individuals with lower limb injuries, deformities, knee, or hip osteoarthritis with outcomes that would improve the treatment methods, devices, and clinical services. The above research work involved optimisation of data collection, biomechanical modelling, treatment, and assessment methods, which improve the understanding to the traditional clinical practice outcomes based on the subjective assessment tools. As one of the key members in the research programme for knee biomechanics and Injury at the University of Salford, Anmin has completed many different projects and published many papers on peer-reviewed journals jointly with other colleagues. Meanwhile Anmin has supervised and jointly supervised many PhD and MSc students in his research field. Current research focuses are the effect of lateral wedged insoles and footwear to the individuals with medial knee osteoarthritis including studies based randomised clinical trials (RCT). In lower limb biomechanics Anmin continues his research and his regular supervision and support to postgraduate students who are pursuing their MSc and PHD.
