Biography
Dr. Abdelrahman J. K. Alfar is a lecturer in Health Economics at the School of Health & Society, The university of Salford. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Hull, UK. His research focuses on health economics, sustainability, and economic development in conflict zones, with publications covering topics such as the impact of cost-of-living crises on health in the UK, and the effects of conflict on foreign direct investment.
Beyond academia, Dr. Alfar has contributed significantly to policy and healthcare analytics. As a Principal Analyst at NHS England, he worked on epidemiological and health economics analyses, supporting the Critical Thinking Unit (CTU) on projects that used the Value-Based Healthcare approach (VBHC) and econometrics to investigate the impact of economic conditions on healthcare outcomes.
He is also actively involved in international consulting and training projects, collaborating with organizations such as the World Food Program (WFP) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
Dr. Alfar is proficient in various analytical and statistical tools, including Stata, Tableau, and Microsoft Excel
