Digital Immersive Video Environment (DIVE)
Our Digital Immersive Video Environment lets students train in and understand various settings they wouldn't usually access, like police cells, ambulances, and isolated locations.
Health and Society Simulation and Skills Team
We have two Digital Immersive Video Environment (DIVE) facilities located in the Mary Seacole building on our Frederick Road campus. These facilities are primarily utilised by the School of Health and Society for programmes in nursing, midwifery, allied health, and policing.
The DIVE allows users to experience various environments within a single room. This cutting-edge system employs multiple cameras to project realistic images onto the walls. Additionally, the spaces are equipped with advanced sound equipment, enabling the transformation of the room into settings such as an ambulance, nightclub, prison cell, or family home.
Tracking tools enable users to interact with the displayed scenes and options. For example, they can explore a crime scene or examine internal organs to understand the impact of specific medical conditions.
The rooms feature a comprehensive audio-visual system for streaming, recording, and replaying scenarios, offering multiple perspectives, including close-ups of procedures, which support evaluation and assessment.
