All books will renew automatically each week, for up to 13 weeks. If another student requests the item, you must return it within the stated time.
You can log into your library account at any time to manually renew items, or check when they are due back.
Laptops are non-renewable and must be returned on time.
What if a book won't renew?
Books won't renew for one of five reasons:
- The book has been requested by another user. Return the book by the date stated.
- Maximum number of renewals reached. Books can be renewed for up to 13 weeks. If not requested, you can loan the books again once they have been discharged from your account.
- Your library account has expired. The book will not renew beyond your account expiry date and will need to be returned.
- The book has been invoiced. If the book is several weeks overdue, it will become classed as lost and be invoiced. Return the book immediately. Failure to return the book may result in further charges and be referred to debt collection.
- You have a block on your account. If another loan was returned late or is overdue, a block on your account may prevent renewal.
If a book is not renewing and you're unsure why, please get in touch.
What communication will you send me?
You will receive the following from us regularly:
- Recall notification email. An item you have borrowed will not be renewed as another user requested it.
- Pre overdue email. An item you have loaned is due for return.
- Phone calls/text. Attempts to contact you to return the overdue items.
- Overdue letter. An item you have borrowed is now overdue.
All of our communications are sent as a courtesy and should not be relied on to track your due dates. Not receiving notification is not a valid reason to remove blocks or charges for overdue items.
