University of Salford scoops prestigious HR award for People Analytics Dashboard

HR staff attended the CIPDMAs black-tie award ceremony in London alongside other HR, Learning Development (LD) and Organisation Development (OD) companies across the UK. 

The University was shortlisted for an award in the Best People Analytics category for their work on the new Peoples Analytics Dashboard which helps the team to analyse, protect and disburse data in a safe and controlled way. 

The old HR system did not have the functionality to provide informative reports and allow for integration with other systems to enable meaningful analysis of data. The team wanted to create a new platform which would provide a solution to this and also for colleagues to be able to access the information they need.   

A project team was set up with a project sponsor and project manager, and the team worked to clearly define the scope, deliverables, timescales and required outcomes. Periodically sharing developments with key stakeholders, the team were able to work collaboratively in building solutions which were purposeful.  

Following months of hard work, the new People Analytics Dashboard was introduced in November 2022, and helps the University HR team to answer queries quickly and direct colleagues to places where they can self-serve the information they need, which frees up time to develop more insights into data, concentrate on analysis rather than numbers and help influence strategic thinking. 

Julie Woosey, Associate Director People Strategy at the University, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our HR team and all their hard work in this project, this award from the CIPD is an amazing achievement. 

“It is brilliant to have been recognised for this award and the fact that we are the only University to have been shortlisted speaks volumes of the hard work and attention of our colleagues at Salford.” 

The CIPD Awards is an annual event which brings together colleagues from HR, LD and OD to celebrate and recognise outstanding talent, teams and projects across the country.
