Categories: School of Science, Engineering and Environment

This October, the University of Salford is proud to be working with the BRILLIANT Festival, a major new educational technology event, bringing educators and industry together to discuss the transformative power of education, creativity, and technology.

Taking place on Tuesday the 15th of October, the one-day festival will be held in the Exhibition Centre at the ACC Liverpool, between 8:30-17:30. It is a free event and colleagues are already signing up to join over 1500 delegates in what will become a major new event in the national education calendar.

BRILLIANT aims to transform the landscape of education, inspire educators, and prepare students for their exceptional futures which lie ahead. Focussing on the power of innovation, creativity, and technology, the festival intends to foster collaboration between education and industry to enhance learning experiences and to open new doors for the next generation of modern thinkers.

With the festival being the first of its kind in the North, BRILLIANT will congregate an array of leading companies who will be demonstrating their latest technologies, and feature several keynote speakers considering the future of technology and innovation.

As part of the festival, The University of Salford academics Professors Andy Miah and Pete Woodbridge (MITIH), will be hosting ‘Fireside Chats’, throughout the day. The 10-minute informal chats will feature various speakers, businesses, and partners, discussing creative educational technology. Other participants from the University will include Dr Juan Hiriart, and Calum Thomson (LTEC).

Professor Miah, he said: “It’s all about bringing industry closer to education and being able to think collaboratively

“Considering the remarkable technological times in which we live, it has never been more important to ensure schools and educators have the resources to nurture young minds and prepare them for the technological wonders of the future

“We hope the event provides a sense of community and opportunity for the education sector."

Martyn Collins, Director of the BRILLIANT Festival, said: "I’m delighted that the University of Salford will be joining us at BRILLIANT, bringing their unique insights into the future skills needed for the world of work and collaborating with us to inspire and shape the next generation of educators and learners!"
