Salford students to unveil their best work at 2024 Degree Show

The annual event, which celebrates the outstanding work of our students from the worlds of Animation, Art, Graphic Design, Fashion, Interior Design, Photography & TV and Stage Design, will launch at the New Adelphi Building on Thursday 23 May.

It is the culmination of three years of hard work from our students who will showcase their array of talents across the building in an innovative display that will hook you from the moment you step through the doors.

There will be work on show from 13 of the University’s leading creative arts programmes.

Paul Vivian, Director of Art and Design at The University of Salford, said: “We are proud to be launching the careers and ambitions of our graduating students at this year’s Degree Show as as they follow in a long Salford tradition of creative change makers and visionaries.

“What makes our show and students so unique is how industry, cultural partnerships and community are firmly embedded throughout their work and ideas. We are very excited to give them the platform to introduce themselves at this spectacular event that showcases the very best that the University of Salford has to offer."

Brendan Fletcher, Subject Group Head for Art & Design at The University of Salford, said: “The Degree Show is the perfect essence of the art school experience and the culmination of three years of creative endeavour and intellectual toil. Students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, initiative, and resourcefulness to showcase their last piece of work as an undergraduate student.

“It also continues to be a launch pad for the professional careers of our graduates and a passport to future success with many former students having gone on to secure roles within the creative industries off the back of their exhibit.

“This year’s cohort are an outstanding group who are ready to make their way in the world having overcome numerous hurdles and obstacles and are ready to present their very best work in this exhibition.”

• BA Photography – Floor 5
• BA Fashion Design – Floor 6
• BA Fashion Image Making & Styling – Floor 6
• BA Fine Art – Floor 6

Representatives from across the creative industries will be present on the launch night to meet and discuss with our students about their work.

This year’s launch event will also feature live DJ performances from students on our Music programmes, food stall offerings from Fratellis and Archchi’s as well as refreshments from Atmosphere Bar, Lark Hill Brewery and Salfood.

We are delighted to be joined by our partners Castlefield Gallery, who will be hosting a stall in the Atrium space to discuss their work at the launch. Attendees to the launch can also purchase Degree Show-branded tote bags and t-shirts featuring the distinctive in-house branding from our BA Graphic Design teaching team.

The exhibition will be open to the general public from Friday 24 May to Saturday 1 June (excluding Sunday 26 and Monday 27 May). There will also be free parking on campus for the launch event on Thursday 23 May from 4pm onwards with parking charges applying on all other days.
