Salford alumna Pien Meulensteen scores Sky Sports commentator role
BA Broadcast Journalism graduate Pien Meulensteen has joined Sky Sports’ on-air commentary team for the upcoming Women’s Super League season.
Following on from being named ‘One to Watch – On Air’ at the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards, Pien has been named alongside former England International Izzy Christiansen as the new recruits for the network’s on-air team from October, joining the likes of former England legend Karen Carney and presenter Caroline Barker.
Sky have also said that Pien will play a ‘wider role’ across the channel’s football commentary portfolio which will see her being involved in both Premier League and English Football League games.
Ahead of her new role, Pien will be commentating on her third major international tournament in the last two years as part of ITV’s line-up for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia which kicks off today.
Pien said: “I am very proud and privileged to continue working with the brilliant team at Sky to bring the best coverage for an exciting season ahead, in both the men’s and women’s game.”
Since graduating, Pien has gone from strength to strength as a football commentator, working with the likes of BBC Sport, CBS, DAZN and Dutch broadcaster Ziggo sports.
