A new cog in Engineering

The University of Salford has appointed Dr Georgina Harris as Director of Engineering. Dr Harris joins the university after working at Manchester Metropolitan University for over five years where she held the post of Head of School of Engineering and Associate Dean. 

Georgina is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with an Engineering Doctorate.  She holds two Master’s Degrees: one in Mechanical Engineering and the other in Business Administration. She is a passionate advocate for engineering with a firm belief that it can solve the world’s grand challenges and improve daily life for everyone. Georgina also feels that engineering has the potential to provide social mobility for our successful graduates.

Georgina said: “Engineering at The University of Salford is held in great esteem both nationally and internationally and I am so very proud to be joining the School of Science, Engineering & Environment. This is such a fantastic time to be an engineer with demand for our skills and expertise at an all-time high. We already have some fantastic industry partners and I will be looking to build our network, strengthen our connections and ensure that we are preparing our young engineers for their future careers.”
