New Adelphi to host arts and design symposium

Categories: School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology

A symposium event at the University of Salford will feature some of the leading voices from within the art, design and creative technology industries.

The Sum of All Parts is arranged by the University’s MA Art and Design programme in partnership with Open Eye Gallery. It will be held on Tuesday 27 February from 1pm until 4.30pm at the New Adelphi Theatre on our Peel Park campus.

Students on the programme have selected the theme of the event to be exploring the role of collectives and networks in the creative industries. The day will look at what power collaborative practice brings to art and design today and what role networks can play in creating support and profiling to often marginalised voices within the industry.

Confirmed guest speakers include Rule of Threes, the POST Photography Collective, Fuse Manchester, Niki Colclough, a lecturer, visual artists and creative practitioner and contemporary art and creative tech collective Re-Dock.

Elizabeth Wewiora, Programme Leader for MA Art & Design, said: “The Sum of All Parts is a timely event celebrating the power of collectives and networking practice and its role in profiling practitioners who may otherwise be marginalised in the creative industries.

“Every year we ask our MA Art and Design students to pick a key theme across the creative industries they want to explore for both the students and the wider public. This year we are delighted to be able to bring a host of dynamic creatives across the art, design, creative technology and social practices together to explore these issues.”

All are welcome to attend the event but must secure their free ticket via Eventbrite here.
