IRIS welcomes back students for an insightful engagement day
For the third consecutive year, IRIS Software Group welcomed our Business, Computer Science and Software Engineering programmes students to their Manchester offices.
The event gave students the opportunity to gain a comprehensive view of software development, product management and the essential skills needed to excel in the competitive tech industry. They also received crucial advice on interview techniques and CV writing. With sessions led by IRIS’s experienced software engineers and product managers, the event provided an invaluable chance for students to engage with professionals, giving them a first-hand perspective on what it takes to succeed in these demanding roles.
Mohammed, a second-year Software Engineering student, shared his positive experience: ‘The IRIS event was incredibly insightful, providing us with practical advice on building a strong CV and offering a clear path to becoming a product manager within a company. This has really helped me understand the key steps required for success in the field.’
Events like these are instrumental in bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world experiences. For students who are beginning to explore career opportunities, the guidance provided by professionals offers invaluable insights. Robel, a second-year Computer Science student, reflected on the event’s significance: ‘The event was wonderful. As a second-year student eager to explore placement opportunities, the information shared by IRIS was not only valuable but also gave me clear insights into the industry from well-experienced professionals.’
Through initiatives like this, IRIS continues to demonstrate their commitment to supporting the next generation of tech and business professionals. Their willingness to share expertise and host these events plays a vital role in preparing our students for future careers in the tech and business industry. The students left the event feeling more confident about the next steps in their professional development, with a better understanding of how to apply their academic knowledge in a workplace setting.
IRIS have said, ‘The University of Salford is one of our fantastic Social Purpose partners. Our goal with the engagement days are to evidence how we are able to support students through their studies in a variety of ways, to continue to widen access to careers in tech, and find a new generation of incredible talent.’
The event not only offered a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of software engineers but also provided the tools and insights our students need to navigate the industry with confidence.
