The University of Salford is delighted to announce that Professor Simon Green has been appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise.
Simon will join the University of Salford from Aston University, Birmingham, where he has over 10 years of executive leadership experience, most recently in the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) since 2018. In this role, he led the transformation of Aston’s research environment, including the introduction of interdisciplinary University Research Institutes as its research flagships.
As well as being a panel member for Area Studies for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) in both 2014 and 2021, Simon served as Chair of the Executive Management Group of Midlands Innovation (MI), which brings together the eight research-intensive universities in that region. Within Birmingham, he has represented Aston in the oversight of the West Midlands Innovation Accelerator. Outside of the region, Simon actively supported Aston’s alumni relations across the world, notably in the United States.
Simon commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the University of Salford, which has a great reputation for applied, technical and impactful research. I am really looking forward to working with colleagues across the institution to take this to the next level in the future.”
Simon will officially start in post in mid-December 2024.
