Alumni achievements celebrated in King’s first New Year Honours List

The New Year Honours List recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom.
A number of University of Salford alumni have been recognised in King Charles III’s first New Year Honours List, including:
- Alok Sharma – Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG)
Alok graduated in 1988 and studied Physics. He has been knighted for his services to tackling climate change.
- Elizabeth Scott – Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)
Elizabeth is Client Engagement Director of Tech Nation. She studied BSc Business Studies: Marketing Management, graduating in 2001. Liz has been awarded the MBE for services to the technology sector.
- Martyn Davies – Medal of the Order of the British Empire (BEM)
Martyn studied BSc Adult Nursing, graduating in 2012. He is the owner and manager of Urmston Manor care home and was awarded a BEM for services to care home residents in Manchester.
