Acclaimed actresses headline annual fundraiser for Working Class Movement Library
A cohort of some of the UK’s finest actresses will headline the annual fundraiser event for our partner organisation, the Working Class Movement Library, next month.
‘Radical Readings – The Conditions of the Working Class’ on Sunday 24 November will feature a number of rousing readings from the likes of Salford alumna and much-celebrated actress Maxine Peake, award-winning Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh and Early Doors actress Christine Bottomley.
They will be joined at Maxwell Hall by researcher, presenter and performer Jennifer Reid, Library Trustee and poet Oliver Lomax, Glasgow band The Tenementals and Manchester Radical Tradition.
Proceeds from the event will support the library’s work to preserve radical working class history, promoting political education and putting class back on the political agenda.
The event will run from 2pm to 5pm.
Tickets for the event can be acquired from the library’s website.
