At Salford, all our people are important to us, and we have services dedicated to your mental and physical wellbeing.
We value diversity - in backgrounds and in experiences. Our difference makes us stronger, and together we share a passion for improving students’ lives.
We offer you a rewarding career. A career where everything you do will make a difference – to the students, our local community and the world around you.
Our approach
We aim to create an environment where colleagues are trusted and empowered to work in a way that helps them perform at their best. We support flexible ways of working and encourage colleagues to take on new experiences and challenges to develop themselves and achieve their goals. We are not afraid of doing things differently and encourage innovation and creative thinking. Partnerships and making connections are key to our delivery. We collaborate, and together we achieve great things.
Our community
There is a real sense of belonging here at Salford. We are proud of our diverse community. We aim to raise the aspirations for all colleagues, providing a level playing field and inclusive opportunities. We celebrate difference and embrace new ways of doing things. This is what makes this a great place to work. We are always looking to create opportunities to bring our diverse community together to network and share their ideas.
We also have a dedicated Faith Centre. This is a unique space for those with or without faith to come together and build connections.
Colleague networks
We have a range of networks available to support colleagues, raise issues, and be a voice to represent colleague interests. The networks are an opportunity to meet other colleagues, develop and have a say in how we deliver on our ambition to create an inspirational, inclusive learning and working environment, celebrating the diversity of our university community in our everyday conversations. There are currently five colleague networks – Parents Network, Salford Proud, BAME Network, Women’s Voice and SalfordAbility, with plans to launch more soon.
Conversations that matter
Here at Salford your voice and views are important to us. We welcome feedback and input from different perspectives. We connect, build communities and have a shared understanding through having great conversations. There are a range of forums available to open up conversations and share our colleague voice, to include our Vice Chancellors Q&A session and our Colleague Forum, to name a few. These forums are important for colleagues to share views, understand different perspectives and build relationships.
Recognition
Saying thank you is important. That’s why our ‘thank you’ colleague recognition scheme is all about that. It gives colleagues across our university the opportunity to recognise peers and teams regularly. We also run recognition events alongside our Vice Chancellor and Women's Voice awards. We never miss an opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work that happens across the university and our unstoppable colleagues!
Making a Difference
As part of our colleague community, there are many ways you can make a wider difference to our university and its people. Ways in which you can contribute or volunteer include Give As You Earn initiatives for charitable causes and opportunities to volunteer at University-wide events such as graduation, student registration and open days.
Equity, diversity and inclusion
Here at Salford, we are proud of our diverse community. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is at the heart of everything we do.
