Completing your application

When applying for a role online, please ensure you complete all sections of the form in full. This is to ensure your application can be successfully submitted to us on the system. When completing your form, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification, showing how you meet the necessary criteria for the role. All sensitive personal information is confidential and will not be shared by the university. Please provide as much information as possible to support your application so that the shortlisting process can be as fair as possible. For most roles, you will also be able to upload a CV and other supporting documents to support your application.

Interview Information

Please check your application account before you attend your interview to make sure you have everything you need and are as prepared as possible. On your account will be details of your interview date, time and location, as well as who you will be meeting and any tasks or requirements that need preparing for your interview.

Preparing for your Interview – tips and tricks!

We know that the more comfortable you are at interview, the more we will see you at your best. That is why we try and make things as relaxed as possible to help you feel confident and comfortable. We also welcome notes if you wish to bring these along with you.

Here are our top five tips to help you with your interview:

  • Give yourself plenty of time – you don’t want to be rushing
  • Try to stay calm and positive – we just want to get to know you
  • Practise and prepare - a little preparation goes a long way and the more comfortable you'll feel during the actual interview
  • Do your research – it’s as much about you getting to know us, as it is us getting to know you
  • Ask questions – this is your chance to find out more, use it!

Access Requirements for Interviews

If you have any access requirements for interview, please let us know by emailing hrresourcing@salford.ac.uk and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.

Rescheduling Interviews

If you can’t make an interview and need to reschedule, you can do this via your application account. Log into your account or email hrresourcing@salford.ac.uk. Please allow sufficient notice for any changes.

If you’re unable to attend on the day, please email hrresourcing@salford.ac.uk and we will do our best to reschedule, where possible.

Remote Interview Requests

For some interviews, remote options can be accommodated, for example, if travelling distance is too far or work commitments are restricted. To request a remote interview via Microsoft Teams, please email hrresourcing@salford.ac.uk.

Following an Interview - when should you expect to hear from us?

Following your interview, someone should contact you within a few days to let you know if you have been successful or not on this occasion. If you were unsuccessful, we will also offer constructive feedback to help you develop for your next opportunity.
