FAQs

What opportunities are there for placements?

Our MSc Finance, MSc FinTech and MSc Accounting and Finance have the option to complete a six-month paid placement as part of the final trimester of the course. Alternatively, there is an option to complete a three-month unpaid internship or a dissertation for the third trimester. Whilst our students are responsible for finding their own placements, we have lots of support within the university and Salford Business School to help you.

Will the university help me find work experience and placements?

While students are responsible for finding their own work experience and industry placements, the dedicated Business School employability team will guide and support you throughout the process. Industry experience not only enables you to apply your knowledge in real-world situations, but it allows you to form those vital connections early on in your career. We have links with a range of leading organisations and will help you in securing your placement with support such as CV writing and interview skills.

What connections with industry does the school have?

Salford Business School works closely with industry partners. They provide feedback about our modules and courses, ensuring our teaching is close to the demands of the job market and what is expected from an accounting graduate. There are regular job fairs with a range of companies on campus, so students have the chance to talk to them and get more information about placements, internships, and graduate jobs. Also, students will have networking opportunities with professionals at guest talks/lectures, and dedicated networking events.

Do you offer support to help students fund their studies?

We offer a selection of scholarships to help you fund your postgraduate studies. Our Global Gold Excellence Scholarship is worth £3,000 and our Global Silver Excellence Scholarship is worth £2,500. Both of these scholarships are automatically deducted from your tuition fees.

We are located close to Manchester city centre which is a growing hub for businesses in the North of England. As a result, there are lots of opportunities to find part-time work in a variety of industries. We have an on-campus part-time recruitment agency, Unitemps, who can support you in finding a job within the university or at another local business. Our Careers and Enterprise team can also work with you to improve your CV and interview technique to secure a part-time job.

We offer support to help with the cost of living in the UK. Details of the different support schemes can be found on our cost of living webpage. You’ll also find information on discounts and offers on this webpage.
