Choosing the University of Salford
“When my younger daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2018, I was inspired to learn more about the condition whilst staying in the UK to take care of her. I found two master’s programmes that aligned with my medical background. Seeing my daughter’s diagnosis as a turning point, I was convinced to choose Diabetes Care to better aid her and other people living with the condition.”
Academic Life
“As a part of my course, I was able to enhance my skill set. The course strengthened my knowledge of advanced clinical diabetes management. It also supported me in honing my research and analytical skills. I developed my patient-centred care approach, which I apply daily in my medical practice. Furthermore, I built leadership and communication skills which are essential for my role as a healthcare professional.
The University of Salford provided exceptional support, which was crucial during this challenging time. I loved the flexibility and academic excellence at Salford. The lecturers were inspiring, and the course content was highly relevant to real-world diabetes care. The blend of theoretical knowledge and practical applications made the programme truly enriching. The professors and academic staff were incredibly understanding, allowing me flexibility with the submission of my assignments. The University altered deadlines to accommodate my responsibilities as a caregiver.
I attended free academic English courses to help with dissertation writing. Moreover, there was career guidance from the Careers and Enterprise team which helped me refine my expertise and build my independent medical practice. These supportive elements from the University helped me achieve a distinction in my master’s degree.”

Achievements so far
“After graduating from the University of Salford, I returned to Egypt and established my own virtual diabetes care clinic. With my specialisation in diabetes care as a medical doctor, I now provide expert guidance to patients with diabetes and pre-diabetes, integrating the knowledge and skills I gained at Salford.
I acquired advanced training and research experience during my master’s programme which has significantly improved my clinical practice. The evidence-based approach helps me in developing comprehensive diabetes care programmes, benefiting both my patients and the broader medical community.”
Continuing a Salford legacy
“During my master’s studies at Salford, my daughter successfully passed her GCSE exams. After my positive experience at Salford University, I encouraged her to apply for a foundation year at Salford, which she completed successfully. This journey has made Salford an important part of our family’s academic and personal growth.”
