Peninsula partnership sees more students shine
Salford Business School is continuing to celebrate its longstanding partnership with Peninsula UK, with another successful cohort graduating this December. Last week, twelve Peninsula employees were awarded their postgraduate certificates in Employment Policy and Practice from the University.
2024 marked the eighth consecutive year of Salford Business School's partnership with the leading human resources (HR) and employment law firm, with the programme enabling Peninsula’s employees to build invaluable knowledge on employment law policy and practice, whilst applying the skills learnt at SBS to their day-to-day roles in real-time.
Salford Business School’s Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Employment Law, Dr Jonathan Lord, said: “year on year it's great to see the successes that are produced from this strong collaboration. We have worked with Peninsula for a long time now and many of the graduates coming through the programme progress to become leaders within their field. We are very proud of another amazing cohort and I cannot wait to see where the future takes them.”
The qualification obtained by the students is a Level seven certificate with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Earning this postgraduate qualification enhances their prospects as they build on their foundation knowledge of HR and look to advance in their careers.
On earning her Employment Policy and Practice masters, Peninsula’s Benish Azhar said: “my time at the University of Salford was incredibly enriching. The postgraduate certificate in Employment Policy and Practice deepened my understanding of employment law and HR practices, providing theoretical insights which I can now apply in my day-to-day role as a HR Consultant. This experience has been instrumental in advancing my career and enabling me to deliver high-quality consultancy services for Peninsula.”
Benish’s colleague, Laura Woodbine, added: “the course Peninsula and Salford University have created has allowed me to understand the theory and employment law history behind the processes we apply day to day with clients, and enhance my level of advice. For me, my favourite module was HR Strategy and Practices, I enjoyed analysing John Lewis and making my own recommendations to enhance their strategies. Throughout this course I also got to speak with some of my colleagues who I don’t work with day to day and develop friendships.”
Peninsula’s Craig Garner continued: “the Employment Policy and Practice postgraduate certificate I have recently completed was a valuable part of my journey getting started in my new HR career. I completed my HR undergrad 12 years ago and this course came at a perfect time as a catalyst to boost my knowledge and contribute to a successful first year at Peninsula UK. The course content was just what I needed to enhance my employment law knowledge, improve my understanding of contemporary challenges facing the HR function and give me the confidence to provide that extra level of premium service to our clients.”
Jonathan concluded: “The graduates produced within this programme have consistently expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to further their career, both academically and professionally. It’s always inspiring to see them go from strength-to-strength as they progress through their careers, following graduation. In fact, a number of PG Cert graduates have progressed onto the masters programme at Salford, which has enhanced their skills and all round leadership skills further.”
