BBC Sport awaits Television and Radio Production Graduate

BA (Hons) Television and Radio Production graduate Erin Hughes has secured the role of Journalism Researcher at BBC Sport after a successful month’s work placement.

With a love for sport, Erin has taken up several opportunities in the sector which has provided her with the experience needed to get her foot in the door and land her dream role within sport.

Erin said: “My time at Salford has been a mixture of both challenging and life changing!

“Like everyone, I didn't know what I wanted to do or what path I wanted to take. But with everything in life, your path naturally gravitates to places you’d never dream of.

“Mine was down the live sport broadcasting route, to which before university, I had no idea it existed.

“Alongside university, I have been offered the role of Journalism Researcher for BBC Sport, after completing a month's placement on the BBC Sport live streaming team.”

Prior to securing her role with the BBC, Erin was a production runner in various Sporting events such as the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2022 Winter Olympics, 2022 World Indoor Athletics Championships, the World's Aquatic Championships and most recently, Wimbledon and the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

“With all the success I've worked for outside of university, I was fortunate enough to be nominated and win the Film and Media Create Award. The nomination itself came as a huge shock but winning was unexpected and a huge honour” she shared.
