New Adelphi & Chapman Building

The New Adelphi opened its doors in September 2016. The spacious, feature-packed building is a contemporary new gateway to our vibrant campus. Together with its neighbour, the recently refurbished Chapman Building, it offers excellent opportunities for conferences and events.

The New Adelphi is the home of our creative and performing arts students. Each of its five floors contains top-spec, contemporary facilities and equipment.

It features working TV, radio and music studios; 10 performance areas, including a 350-seat theatre; exhibition spaces; large, modern lecture theatres, and a rooftop café and bar.

Together with Chapman’s six modern lecture theatres, café, social areas and private seminar rooms, these buildings provide the perfect location for large conferences and events.

Outside, there are green spaces and seating areas for break-time relaxation and networking.

Our en-suite accommodation are available to book during the summer months when the students are off campus.

New Adelphi has a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating in line with the University’s sustainability agenda.

About the Spaces

Theatre

A large theatre that can be configured with different seating layouts. Ideal for performances and lectures.

The theatre also makes large conferences at Salford possible. The New Adelphi Theatre is an excellent plenary space with the 6 lecture theatres next door in the Chapman Building making ideal break out spaces. The Atrium area will house a café whist leaving ample space for exhibition stands and networking.

Atrium/ Exhibition Area

The large open Atrium space will house a café but also have plenty space to host an exhibition. The Atrium would also make an excellent choice for a drinks’ reception.

Lecture Theatres

The Chapman Building has been thoroughly refurbished and modernised- inside and out. The 6 new modern lectures theatres seat between 100 and 278 delegates. They are excellent spaces for stand- alone events and also work perfectly as break out spaces for larger conferences using the large theatre in New Adelphi as a plenary space.

The lecture theatres are all equipped with the very latest technology and large screen displays.

Classrooms

The Chapman complex houses 3 classrooms, 2 of which can be joined to form one large room seating 40 delegates.
