Why did you choose a degree apprenticeship?
The apprenticeship aligned with my career aspirations and the funding model made it an attractive choice for my employer.
Looking back over your time on the apprenticeship so far, how have you found the whole experience?
The course was one of the most enjoyable experiences that I have experienced in education. The material was aligned not only with my day-today role, but also aligned to the industry in the form of the RICS. The lecturers are experts in all things property with most having or working in the sector, their insight is invaluable.
How are you hoping a degree apprenticeship will support your career progression?
The apprenticeship has already allowed me to progress my career, having moved from a trainee to a graduate and having recently secured a position as Development Surveyor within my organisation.
What impact has your degree apprenticeship had in the organisation?
I feel they have gained an employee who is grateful for the opportunity and who has an extensive all-round knowledge of general practice surveying.
How would you describe the support that you’ve received from the University of Salford?
The teaching support has been fantastic, with support on drafts, questions and general approachability of the staff being key highlights.
Do you have any advice for future degree apprentices?
Absorb and take in as much information as you can from the excellent teaching staff. Try to appreciate and enjoy every moment as those three years go very quickly.
Would you recommend a degree apprenticeship?
I would highly recommend a degree apprenticeship to those who have some idea of their career trajectory as you will need a desire and determination to balance work and study. If you choose this route, I feel your career prospects will be much greater than the traditional method of study.
