Declaring Criminal Convictions and Ongoing Police investigations All students are required to inform the University of any relevant conditional cautions, criminal convictions or pending charges/investigations during their time as a student of the University. Students that are Estranged (Students with no Parental Support) We offer lots of support for students that are estranged. This may be that you have no relationship with your parents, or that you have a negative relationship with them. We offer emotional, financial, and accommodation related support, and we can help you with accessing Student Finance as a student that is estranged .Find out all the information about the support we provide to students that are estranged here. Former Forces Students We’re proud to support ex-forces personnel in your transition from military to civilian life. LGBTIQ+ Students We are proud to have an active student body and staff who support the rights of our LGBTQIA+ community. Mature Students Mature students make up a large and important part of our University community. We recognise the support you need maybe different to someone who has just left school or college and you can read about it here. Sanctuary Seekers Applying and studying at university can be a challenge for any student, but for those who are seeking sanctuary, been granted refugee status in the UK, or are from another form of forced migrant background, there can be many legal and emotional challenges as well. From emotional support with our dedicated support team to financial support through our Sanctuary Scholarship, all of the information on support you may need can be found here. Student Carers A carer is someone who provides unpaid care to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without this help because of frailty, physical or mental illness, addiction or disability. We offer lots of support, including academic and financial support, to students with caring responsibilities. Read about what support we can offer you here. Students with Families We recognise that students with families, or who are expecting, are likely to need additional support throughout their studies to ensure that they can make the most of their course, and you can read about the help that we offer here. Student Pregnancy, Maternity, New Parenthood and Adoption Policy It can be difficult to balance your studies with other personal events, such as becoming a new parent. Read all about the information and our policy on supporting students who are going to become parents, who have recently become parents, or whose partners are expectant or new parents. Students under 18 Years Old We have a dedicated support team for students that are under the age of 18 years old at the university that can support you from application stage.
