Trusts & Foundations
At Salford, we are proud that our students come from all walks of life, with varying experiences that enrich both the University and wider communities of Salford and Greater Manchester. We also strive to provide a level playing field for all our students, regardless of their background, and raise their aspirations for the future.
Charitable trusts and foundations can enable students to learn, discover, and be curious through the support of:
-
Scholarships and bursaries
-
Investigation of cutting-edge research and globally significant projects
-
Improvement of teaching facilities and capital builds
Make a student unstoppable by funding their learning experience
We know that studying at university comes at a cost that some cannot afford and that the tuition fees and associated living costs can often deter talented individuals from taking the step into Higher Education.
Financial support can be life-changing for a student, especially those studying at the University of Salford as:
-
25% of our students are from low income families
-
99% of our students are state educated
-
50% of our students originate from Greater Manchester
Scholarships and bursaries are vital for students that are struggling to make ends meet and can prevent them from dropping out of university. Support from a trust and foundation can significantly improve a student's attainment, ease their financial pressures, and help to build their confidence.
They also provide students with opportunities to learn and engage with fields of study and industry areas that otherwise have a low representation from certain backgrounds. For example, scholarships and bursaries can provide the step up needed to support more female students into studying STEM subjects.
The University of Salford aims to be at the forefront of change to improve diversity and inclusion in disciplines across Higher Education and industry, and with the support of trusts and foundations we can continue to build a pipeline of talented individuals and role models to inspire future generations.
Haworth Charitable Trust
We are extremely grateful for the invaluable artistic experiences the Haworth Charitable Trust continues to provide for our students. Programmes like the Haworth Life Drawing Series and the Haworth Figurative Art Graduate Scholarship enables our students to develop their professional practice through access to high-quality materials and the opportunity to experiment.
Lady Monica Cockfield Memorial Trust
With thanks to the support of the Lady Monica Cockfield Memorial Trust, students from the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology have had the opportunity to secure life-changing scholarships and participate in innovative projects to enhance their studies and future employability.
Industry is embedded into everything we do
We remain committed to the wider Salford community by utilising our research expertise and encouraging students to engage with projects that benefit residents, the community and businesses.
Our academic staff are experts in their fields, regularly undertaking exciting and innovative research. Trusts and foundations help the University to advance industry knowledge and insights across core priority areas, and we have a plethora of cutting-edge projects in the pipeline across environmental sustainability, robotics and autonomous vehicles, science and emerging technologies, technical skill development, arts and culture, and industry collaboration.
Coles-Medlock Foundation
The generosity of the Coles-Medlock Foundation has supported innovative research at Salford through donations to the Salford Institute for Dementia (SIfD) and the Centre of Doctoral Training in Prosthetics and Orthotics, aiding our mission to become a leading institution of pioneering scientific research.
Haskel Family Foundation
Thanks to the charitable donations from the Haskel Family Foundation, the Salford Institute for Dementia (SIfD) has been able to continue their extraordinary work in creating a positive and supportive environment for people living with dementia.
Whatever your area of interest and whether you would like to make a one-off or multi-year donation, we are confident your support will go far at the University of Salford, having a profound impact on student lives, contributing to break-through research, developing the campus and facilities, and engaging with the local community.
Through your support our students can become unstoppable.
